"The History of ZOE"

The ZOE Teen Family Home School Group had its beginning in the summer of 1989 when the Abercrombie, Barja, Daniels, Draxler, Hunsucker, Lively, and Way parents met together several times to prayerfully lay plans to meet some of the needs of our home schooled teens.  They had no model to follow.  Before they ever discussed the possible activities of this group, they unanimously agreed upon and established the principles and guidelines.  These are the “touchstones” or “plumb line” by which we measure the appropriateness of any and all activities, commitments, and plans which ZOE has.   Much about the group has changed: membership, specific activities, location, etc., but these principles and guidelines remain constant.

The word ZOE, meaning “life”, comes from the Greek language.  This name was selected by the young people themselves in one of the early years.

This is a FAMILY Home School group targeting teens.  We have teens, and they are approaching young adulthood, but they still need the involvement and influence of their parents in their lives.  Parental involvement and attendance at monthly meeting and other events is strongly encouraged.  Remember, ZOE is an extension of your home schooling program - not a replacement for it.

We require that both parents and teens make the commitment to acknowledge and abide by the established purpose and guidelines insofar as your association and activities with ZOE.  This is to provide a common ground for oneness of intent.

We welcome those of like mind to learn, grow, and serve with us.

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
